Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of health education on situational teaching method on the feeding quality and complications of infants and young children after cleft lip and palate surgery.Methods Random number table method was used to divide112 cases of cleft lip and palate infants and young children who underwent plastic surgery in our hospital into a control group and an observation group,56 cases in each group,the control group used conventional oral health education and feeding nursing,and the observation group used a situational teaching method Health education,and feeding nursing in accordance with the education methods,comparing the feeding knowledge of the parents of the two groups of children,the feeding compliance of the children and the incidence of complications.Results Parents of the observation group were better than the control group in the scores of knowledge about feeding preparation,feeding time,feeding methods,feeding precautions,etc.,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The feeding compliance of the children in the observation group was 96.43%,higher than the control group’s 83.93%,the difference was statistically significant(χ^2=9.937,P=0.017).The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was 5.36%,lower than the control group’s 14.29%,the difference was statistically significant(χ^2=8.049,P=0.026).Conclusion Situational teaching method health education can effectively improve the feeding knowledge of parents of infants and young children with cleft lip and palate plastic surgery,improve the compliance of children during feeding,and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications.
