A Meta Analysis of Clinical Efficacy of Treating Depression from the Spleen

Objective:To carry out a Meta analysis of the literature on the treatment of depression from the spleen,and to explore its effectiveness and safety.Methods:The Full-Text Database of Chinese Journal Network,Wanfang Science and Technology Information Database,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chinese VIP Science and Technology Journal Database,Cochrane Library,PubMed and Embase Database were searched.The randomized controlled trials of treating the depression from the spleen from the establishment of the database to January 6,2020 were collected.The Review Manager 5.3 software recommended by Cochrane was used for the literature that met the inclusion criteria for Meta-analysis.Results:A total of 8 randomized controlled trials were finally included.The effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group[OR=5.28,95%CI(2.77,10.07),P<0.01].In terms of Hamilton Depression Scale score,there was no significant difference between the two groups[SMD=-1.22,95%CI(-2.49,0.05),P=0.06].The incidence of adverse reactions in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group[OR=0.10,95%CI(0.04,0.21),P<0.01].Conclusion:Treatment from the spleen combined with antidepressant Western medicine is effective in the treatment of depression,and the incidence of adverse reactions is low.However,due to the limitation of the quantity and quality of the included literature,more high-quality,multi center and large sample randomized controlled trials are still needed to verify in the future.
