Abstract: | In 1999 over 40,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer, just over 8,000 of whom were under the age of 50 (Cancer Research UK, 2003). Premenopausal women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer often feel isolated and this article looks at some of the specific medical and psychosocial issues they may experience. Before examining these issues in depth, the article provides a brief overview of breast cancer and concludes by looking at the support and information services available to meet the needs of these women. |
