Observation on the efficacy of warming needle moxibustion on acute peripheral facial paralysis

Objective To observe the efficacy of warming needle moxibustion on acute peripheral facial paralysis.Methods A total of 90 patients with acute peripheral facial paralysis were divided into experimentalgroup and control group by drawing lots,with 45 cases in each group.The control group received conventional western medicine treatment,and the experimental group received warming needle moxibustion treatment.The facial nerve function and facial symptom scores before and after treatment,social function,physical function scores,therapeutic effect were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the facial nerve function score of the two groups were higher than that of this group before treatment,and the facial symptom scores were lower than that of this group before treatment;the facial nerve function score(17.43±4.05)points of the experimental group was higher than(13.62±3.61)points of the control group,and the facial symptom score(2.31±0.41)points was lower than(4.13±0.62)points of the control group;all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the social function and physical function scores of the two groups were higher than those of this group before treatment;the social function score(14.68±3.06)points and physical function score(23.64±1.62)points of the experimental group were higher than(10.77±3.35)and(19.94±1.79)points of the control group;all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 97.78%,which was higher than 77.78% in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of warming needle moxibustion in the treatment of acute peripheral facial paralysis can play a positive role in relieving patients’clinical symptoms,improving their facial nerve function,and reducing their facial disability,which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
