LABORATORY STUDY ON CHINESE-MADE NEUTRAL GLUTARALDEHYDE Ⅰ. COMPARISON OF THE GERMICIDAL EFFECTS OF THE CHINESE-MADE GLUTARALDEHYDE AND IMPORTED GLUTARALDEHYDE |

| Abstract: | The effects of Chinese-made neutral glutaraldehyde (CNG, pH 7.0) in killing Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and spore of Bacillus subtilis var. niger and in destroying HBsAg were compared with those of imported alkaline glutaraldehyde (cidex, pH 8.1) and imported acidic glutaraldehyde (Sonicide, PH 3.8). The results showed that the bacteriocidal and sporocidal effects of CNG were similar to those of cidex, its sporocidal effect was stronger than that of Sonioide while it was less effective in destroying HBsAg.In practical application of 2% CNG the dwell time should not be less than 30min for disinfection of hepatitis B virus and should not be less than 7 hr for sterilization of various materials. |
