Abstract:Objective To explore the influencing factors of weight management during pregnancy and its influence on delivery outcome. Methods A total of 192 pregnant women who were filed in our hospital from January 2019 to April 2020 were selected. According to the effect of weight management during pregnancy, they were divided into the ideal weight gain during pregnancy group (the ideal group) with 134 women and the poor weight management during pregnancy group (the poor group, in which all were overweight) with 58 women. The general data of pregnant women were collected. The knowledge, attitude, and behavior of weight management during pregnancy were investigated. Single-factor and multiple-factor analyses were conducted to analyze the influencing factors of weight management during pregnancy. The delivery outcome was recorded and compared between the two groups. Results The proportion of women that believed that weight gain during pregnancy had no/unclear relationship to fetal health, believed that weight gain during pregnancy had no/unclear relationship to delivery method, had no diet control during pregnancy, did not know the appropriate range of weight gain during pregnancy, and did not control weight gain in the poor group was higher than that in the ideal group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Multi-factor analysis showed that belief of weight gain during pregnancy had no/unclear relationship to fetal health, belief of weight gain during pregnancy had no/unclear relationship to delivery method, no diet control during pregnancy, ignorance of the appropriate range of weight gain during pregnancy, and no weight control during pregnancy were independent risk factors for poor weight management during pregnancy (P<0.001). The rates of cesarean section, premature birth, neonatal asphyxia, and macrosomia in the ideal group were significantly lower than those in the poor group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.001). Conclusion Abnormal weight gain during pregnancy can increase adverse delivery outcomes. The knowledge, attitude, and behavior of weight management during pregnancy in pregnant women have a significant impact on weight gain during pregnancy.
