Comprehensive Therapy with Acupuncture as the Chief Measure for Apoplexy:A Clinical Analysis of 445 Cases

In apoplectic hemiplegia, the functional restoration of lower limbs is usually earlier than that of upper limbs and proximal region earlier than distal region, and muscular spasm is the chief cause of limb dyskinesia.The treatment should chiefly aim at the adjustment of posture and the coordination of muscles, and then at the strengthening of weakened muscles by training. Accordingly, a comprehensive therapeutic program was established with acupuncture as the chief measure and acupoint medicinal injection and physical training as subsidiary. Four hundred and forty-five cases of apoplexy were treated, with a curative rate of 27.42%,markedly effective rate of 34.16%and effective rate of 34.38%,the total effective rate being 95.96%.
