THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE BACTERICIDAL EFFECT OF PERGLUTARIC ACID

The experimental results of bactericidal effect, corrosiveness, skin and mucous membrane irritation of perglutaric acid are reported. The perglutaric acid could kill both vegetative bacteria and spores. Its powder preparation was better than the liquid form. It faded the textiles without affecting their quality. It did not corrode chromium-plated or nickle-plated metals, stainless steel, aluminium alloy and lead, while corroded tool steel, copper, or zinc-plated metals in some degree. Solution of 0.5% or 2% perglutaric acid did not irritate skin, but irritated mucous membrane and skin wound in some degree.
