Clinical application of super sliding guide wires in male patients with difficult catheterization

Objective:To explore the clinical effect applying super sliding guide wires in male patients with difficult catheterization.Methods:The clinical data of 135 male patients who were 40-87 years old and took catheterization under the guidance of super sliding guide wire after conventional catheterization failure from June 2013 to March 2020 at Fujian Provincial Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Among the 135 patients, 130 cases were catheterized successfully, with a success rate of 96.3%; and 5 cases underwent cystostomy. No serious complications, such as urethral pseudotract, mucosal tear, and massive hemorrhage, occurred in all the patients.Conclusion:Catheterization guided by a super sliding guide wire is a simple, practical, convenient, safe, and effective method, so it is worthy of clinical promotion.
