Research Progress in Malignant Pleural Effusion of Lung Cancer Treated by Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine

Malignant pleural effusion is one of the common complications of advanced tumors,of which lung cancer is most commonly-seen.When malignant pleural effusion appears in the late stage of lung cancer,it seriously affects the functions of the lungs,heart,mediastinum,etc.,and at the same time indicates that the patients’condition is getting worse and the survival time is greatly reduced.At present,western medicine treatment for pleural effusion is mainly through thoracentesis,pleural drainage,pleural fixation,intrapleural administration,and pleural dissection,and traditional Chinese medicine methods for pleural effusion include oral use of Chinese medicine decoction,intrapleural perfusion of Chinese medicine preparations,external application of Chinese medicine,acupuncture and so on.In this article,the research progress in malignant pleural effusion of lung cancer treated by integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine was reviewed,the successful cases treated by the predecessors with integrated Chinese and western medicine were summarized,and the future development direction of the treatment of malignant pleural effusion with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine was discussed,so as to find the optimal treatment method for the patients with malignant pleural effusion.
