Labour was induced in a group of 412 women in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy by Crystal Trichosanthin injected into the amniotic cavity. Its success rate was 99.8%. The average abortion-induction interval was 4.53±1.15 days. Blood loss was scanty (<100m/) during labour in 90.5% of cases. There were only two cases complicated with laceration of the cervix. The side effects of Crystal Trichosanthin were dramatically reduced, not only due to the simultaneous use of dexamethasonum for 3 successive days but also because Trichosanthin was concentrated in the amniotic cavity and only a little was present in the blood circulation. Trichosanthin is a kind of plant protein, it will possibly cause allergic reactions and produce antibodies that will influence the effect of its reinjection.
