Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of CD81 and CCR5 on CD4+/CD8+ T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood of patients with HCV mono-infection, HIV mono-infection and HCV/HIV co-infection as well as the correlation between them. Methods We measured the expression of CD81 and CCR5 on CD4+/CD8+ T lymphocytes in peripheral blood samples from 21 patients with HCV mono-infection, 14 patients with HIV mono-infection, 28 patients with HCV/HIV co-infection and 30 healthy volunteers by FACS.Results The expression of CD81 on CD4+ T lymphocytes in HCV mono-infection was not different from healthy control, but decreased significantly in HIV mono-infection and HCV/HIV co-infection. The expression of CD81 on CD8+ T lymphocytes increased significantly in HCV mono-infection, HIV mono-infection and HCV/HIV co-infection. The expression of CCR5 on CD4 + and CD8+ T lymphocytes increased significantly in HIV mono-infection, but decreased significantly in both HCV mono-infection and HCV/HIV co-infection.Conclusion In HCV/HIV co-infection, HCV may have effect on the expression of CCR5 on CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes, while, HCV/HIV co-infection may have different effect on the expression of CD81 on CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes from peripheral blood.
