Relation of cathepsin B with apoptosis and pulmonary fibrosis

Cathepsin B is a lysosomal cysteine endoproteinase which participates in many physiological and pathological events.Increasing evidence suggests that cathepsin B is actively involved in apoptotic execution.And there are two apoptosis pathways including caspase-independent and no caspase-independent cell death routes.It has been shown that cathepsin B can participate in the forming process of pulmonary fibrosis.Many experts have done a lot of reaserches on the relation,and got much outstanding achievement.Cathepsin B may play an important role in the development of pulmonary fibrosis.
