| Abstract: | Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains an important cause of preventable blindness in child-ren. Accurate diagnosis of ROP is essential to detect threshold ROP requiring urgent treatment. Photocoagulation is effective for threshold and prethreshold ROP. Vitreous surgery or scleral buckling intervention becomes necessary when the disorder progresses to stage 4 ROP with retinal detachment. The author described the status and advancement in the surgical management of ROP. |
