Biatrial compression caused by intrapericardial hematoma secondary to ruptured type I acute aortic dissection following aortic valve replacement

Abstract:Ruptured aortic dissection after aortic valve replacement (AVR) is uncommon and rarely diagnosed premortem. We report a patient with a ruptured type I aortic dissection and biatrial tamponade 2 months after AVR caused by loculated intrapericardial hematoma.The diagnosis was made by transthoracic echocardiography and confirmed at operation.
