Abstract: | ![]() Current knowledge about sexual response in the nonpregnant woman is compared to that during each trimester of pregnancy and during the postpartum period. Circumstances which may contraindicate sexual activity, especially intercourse and orgasm, during pregnancy are specified. It is noted that pregnancy may be an opportunity to enhance marital intimacy and stability. Recommendations for those who counsel childbearing couples are outlined. |
