Enhancement of CD4, CD5, CD8, and Bcl-2 Immunohistochemical Staining with Biotinyl-Tyramide

Abstract

Sections of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tonsil were reacted with antibody for CD4, 5, and 8, and Bcl-2 followed by biotinylated secondary antibodies and ABC development. For each stain, parallel sections were either enhanced with biotinyl tyramide or not. Although there was a small increase in nonspecific background, the enhancement of the specific stain enabled a clearer identification of positive cells and in some cases increased the number of positive cells seen.
