Abstract:
There is clearly more to learn about screening and intervening in IPV in the pediatric emergency health care setting. Development and validation of screening tools and evaluation of impact on health outcomes for both victim and child will be necessary to refine the best approach. What is clear is that the PED is an excellent place to address the subject. By having simple processes in place, a willing and educated staff and available advocacy services in place, intimate partner violence can be uncovered and interventions made. Resources regarding IPV are available. (Table 1) he opportunity to make a difference in the lives children and their families is great. It’s time to ask.
