Abstract:Objective To study the application of meta-analysis in analysis of frontiers in research on medical informatics and attributes of cross-subjects in medical informatics in order to provide reference and experiences for those engaged in scientific research. Methods The distribution of subjects in medical informatics was analyzed with Web of Science core set-covered papers on medical informatics in relation with meta-analysis as the study object, and a co-occurrence network of subjects was developed using Netdraw to study the attributes of cross-subjects in medical informatics. The highly-cited papers were analyzed by Biclustering analysis to determine the frontiers in recent researches on medical informatics. Results The most involved subjects of medical informatics in the past 5-year meta-analysis were health care sciences and service, and mathematical and computational biology while the frontier in researches on medical informatics were centralized on methodology of network meta-analysis, meta-analysis methods of diagnostic test accuracy, systematic assessment and meta-analysis of the effect of Internet-based or healthcare information technology intervention-based models on healthcare outcomes, statistical methods used in meta-analysis, establishment and simulation of meta-analysis statistical model. Conclusion The attributes of cross-subjects in medical informatics and the 5 frontiers in researches on medical informatics show clearly the interests in future studies on medical informatics.
