| Abstract: | Objective To compare the postoperative swelling after extracting the class A median mesially impacted wisdom tooth by the turbine handpieces and the traditional chisel of bone splitting method.Methods Forty cases of class A median mesially impacted wisdom tooth were randomly divided into two groups,and they were extracted using the turbine handpieces(n=20)and the traditional chisel of bone splitting method(n=20),respectively.Postoperative swelling degree of both groups was compared and analyzed using SPSS 21.0 software.Results A significant difference in the postoperative swelling degree was detected between turbine handpieces group(18±6)and traditional chisel of bone splitting group(20±4)(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with the traditional chisel of bone splitting method,turbine handpieces method resulted in a milder postoperative swelling after extracting the class A median mesially impacted wisdom tooth. |
