Effect of partial superficial parotidectomy on parotid Warthin's tumor

Objective： To evaluate the clinic effects of partial superficial parotidectomy on parotid Warthin′s tumor.Methods： The clinic effect and complication were compared between 20 patients with parotid Warthin′s tumors were assigned as experimental group and treated with removal of tumor and partial parotidectomy,14 randomly selected patients that underwent superficial parotidectomy were enrolled as control group.Clinical effects,incidence of salivary fistula,facial paralysis as well as Frey′s syndrome were compared between the two groups.Results： Recurrence was observed in neither groups,no obvious deformity was observed in the experiment group,and secretion of salivary gland were basically normal,while different degree of deformity and dysfunction of salivary gland were observed in the control group.Incidence of salivary fistula,facial paralysis and Frey′s syndrome were lower in the experiment group than that in the control group（P〈0.05）.Conclusions： Removal of tumor and partial parotidectomy is more effective on Warthin′s tumor than superficial parotidectomy.
