Effect of closed reduction and internal fixation with Kirschner wire on supracondylar fracture of humerus with complete transposition in children

Objective： To evaluate efect of closed reduction and internal fixation with Kirschner wire on supracondylar fracture of humerus with complete transposition in children.Methods： A total of 126 children cases suffering from complete supracondylar fracture of humerus and admitted from January 2007 to January 2010 were selected.They were treated by closed reduction,internal fixation with Kirschner wire,and external fixation with gypsum in neural position.They all had early functional exercise.Results： 9-35 months later after the operation,follow-up for 24 months in average showed satisfactory contraposition and alignment,and all had synostosis.The result of Cassbaum scale showed 106 excellent cases,15 good cases,5 medium cases,and 1 poor case,with excellent and good rate as 96.3%.Conclusions： Closed reduction and internal fixation with Kirschner wire are of little injury to soft tissue,simple procedure,easy reduction and stable fixation.This treatment can help patients take early exercise,and is helpful in recovery of the function of the elbow joint.
