Abstract:Objective To investigate the status quo and influencing factors of professional identity of nursing students during the later stage internship under the background of the COVID-19. Methods The professional identity questionnaire for nurse students, and self-rating anxiety scale were used to investigate the nursing students in the later stage of internship in 6 colleges and universities in Henan Province from February to March 2020. Results The average total score of student’ professional identity was(66.34±12.88). Multiple regression analysis results showed that: age, the degree of liking for nursing career after the outbreak of COVID-19, the degree of family members’ support for nursing career after the outbreak of COVID-19, whether they are still willing to engage in nursing clinical work after the outbreak of COVID-19, whether they are willing to participate in front-line support if given the opportunity, and whether the nursing profession was their first choice were the influencing factors of nursing students’ professional identity. Conclusion In the context of COVID-19, the professional identity scores of nursing students in the post-internship period are at a medium and high level, and are affected by family support and professional preference. It is suggested that schools and teachers should fully give positive guidance to nursing students based on the role of nurses in the epidemic situation, improve their recognition of nursing profession, and reserve talents for the development of nursing career in China.
