Abstract:Objective To discuss the feasibility of McGill Monte Carlo treatment planning system(MMCTP)by McGill Uni-versity applied for clinical dosimetry research.Methods Forty patients undergoing RapidArc treatment at some hospital from June 2012 to December 2016 were selected and divided into a head group,a chest group,an abdomen group and a pelvis group according to the treatment site,with 10 patients in each group.The treatment planning information of the 40 patients was exported through the Eclipse planning system and imported into MMCTP,where the EGSnrc program was called through MMCTP to perform Monte Carlo simulation and calculate the new dosimetry results.Physical dosimetry parameters and Gamma pass rates for the target areas and organs at risk were compared between the 2 treatment planning systems.Statistical analysis was carried out using IBM SPSS 26.0 software.Results The two treatment planning systems had all the dosimetry parameters at the target areas not statistically different(P>0.05)except the D98,Dmean and HI at the chest group(with t values being-3.947,-4.385 and 3.959 respectively,P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences between the dosimetry parameters and Gamma pass rates for the organs at risk by the two treatment planning systems(P>0.05).Conclusion MMCTP has high accuracy and reliability when used for dose calculation,and thus can be used for radiotherapy dosimetry studies.
