美国护士毕业后教育现状

摘    要:
美国新参加工作的护士往往具有不同的教育背景,每个州都有各自的护理人员执业法规和相应的护理委员会监管该州护士证书的颁发和再注册以及护士的实践活动。作为护士自身,也要满足联邦政府和各个州对其的专业要求,其中很多要求都是为了保证护理服务质量。这些护理服务质量常常通过病人的护理结局体现出来。一旦新毕业的护生成为注册护士,其毕业后的教育和培训内容则更多地受雇佣者和该州护理委员会相关要求的影响。该文以一家教学医院护士毕业后的教育状况为例进行了相关介绍。尽管美国各个州对于护士毕业后教育的规定不同,但是护士毕业后教育是确保不同教育背景的护士能为病人提供高质量护理的必要手段。

Abstract:
In the United States of America new nurses enter the profession with varied educational backgrounds. Each state has a formally adopted Nurse Practice Act and a Board of Nursing that oversees licensure and discipline of Registered Nurses (RN) practicing in that state. Individual employers of professional nurses have numerous federal and state requirements that they must adhere to. Many of these requirements are designed to insure that quality nursing care, reflected in empirically measured patient outcomes, is provided by the organization. Once the newly graduated nurse has become licensed as a RN, the structure and requirements for ongoing educational development are largely in the hands of the nurse's employer and the individual's state board of nursing. An example of one academic teaching hospital's program of support/education for post-graduate nursing education is provided. Despite variations in requirements from state to state, continuing education for nurses at all levels of experience is necessary in order to insure quality care for our patients.
