Abstract: | (1) The plasma growth hormone response to clonidine, 0.02 mg/kg, i.v., is enhanced 15 days after a course of 7 electroconvulsive shocks (ECS) in baboons, Papio papio. (2) This supports the hypothesis, based on behavioural observations in rodents, that the therapeutic action of electroconvulsive treatment (ECT) in depressive illness is associated with enhanced responses to monoamines. |
