Dynamic analysis of the equity and efficiency of pediatric medical resource allocation,Guangdong

To analyse the equity and efficiency of pediatric medical resources allocation in Guangdong Provincefrom 2012 to 2019. Methods The average annual growth rate was used to describe the growth of pediatric medical resourcesinput and output in Guangdong Province,and the health resource aggregation degree ( HＲAD) and Malmquist index model wereused to evaluate the equity and efficiency of pediatric medical resources allocation in Guangdong Province,respectively.Ｒesults From 2012 to 2019,the average annual growth rates of practicing ( assistant) physicians,pediatric beds,outpatientand emergency visits and discharge visits were 7. 15% ,8. 86% ,6. 64% and 8. 50% ,respectively. From 2012 to 2019,thedifferences between HＲAD and PAD of pediatric practicing ( assistant) physicians were all greater than 0 and the ratios of themwere all greater than 1 in Guangdong Province. However,except in 2013 and 2014,the differences between HＲAD and PAD inpediatric beds were all less than 0 and the ratios of HＲAD to PAD were all less than 1. TFPCH showed an overall downwardtrend obviously because of the changes of TECHCH. Conclusion Pediatric medical resources grew rapidly,but it was stillshort in supply in Guangdong Province. The equity of pediatric practice ( assistant) physicians was good while the equity ofpediatric beds was poor and inadequate. Inadequate technological advance was the main reason for the overall decrease in theefficiency of pediatric medical resource allocation in Guangdong Province from 2012 to 2019.
