Strategies for Promoting Higher Medical Educationin Northwest China towards 21st Century

The development of higher medical education in Northwest China falls far behind that inthose developed regions due to such factors as regional economy and social development. Thus its medical education must be geared to its local economic construction and social demands, be consistent withthe reforms of international medical education, promote harmonious development of various specialties,and strengthen mutual exchange and cooperation. Only in this way can the education in this region occupy a place in national medical education.
