Abstract: | Cardioversion is a procedure used to convert a tachyarrhythmia to normal sinus rhythm by applying a synchronised electric shock. This can be carried out on an elective or urgent basis. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with a greater understanding of external direct current (DC) cardioversion by exploring some of the theoretical and practical issues associated with the procedure. |
