Effect of Megestrol Acetate Silicone Vaginal Ring （MSVR） on Reproductive Hormonal Profiles and Endometria in Women

An endocrinological study of the effect of a China made Megestrol Acetate Silicone Rubber Vaginal Ring (MSVR) on women was carried out. 9 volunteers aged 27-35 were recruited in the study.All the subjects were bearing the MSVR for more than 3 months of investigation.The reproductive hormonal profiles and morphological results showed that MSVR could suppress LH,E2,P,to a certain extent,but would not influence the PRL concentration,it also interfered with normal development of the ultrastructure of the glandular cells.It is indicated that MSVR acts on the reproductive hormonal level and the endometrial development which can be considered as one of the important mechanisms of its antifertilic action.
