Analysis of the situation of poor vision of primary and middle school students in Henan province

Objective To learn the situation of poor vision of primary and middle school students in Henan province（including Zhengzhou,Xinxiang,Puyang and Kaifeng）,and provide scientific basis for vision prevention.Methods 20 148 students＇（7～18 years old） data of students＇ fitness and health of Henan province in 2008 was used to analyze the state of poor vision.Results The detectable rate of poor vision was 54.6 %.The detectable rate grew with age（P0.05）;The detectable rate of kids in urban school（63.3 %）was higher than in suburban school（46.3 %）（P0.05）,and girls＇（58.1 %） was higher than boys＇（51.1 %）（P0.05）;The students of the poorest vision increased with age（P0.05）;The detectable rates in developed areas were more serious than the developing one（P0.05）.Conclusions The detectable rate of poor vision in four areas of Henan province was higher than the national average level in 2005.The detectable rate of girls was higher than boys,and urban students＇was higher than suburban students＇.The severity of poor vision increased with age.
