Abstract: | Diagnostic anesthesia is a special modality offering data that, when coupled with other diagnostic information, may help establish the diagnosis or a source of pain. Guidelines using injectable or general anesthesia have been reviewed. Most important is that diagnostic anesthesia only identifies a source of pain and not necessarily the source of the problem. This modality should complement and not replace a thorough medical history. |
