Application of general anesthesia and epidural anesthesia in abdominal surgery for elderly patients

Objective： To observe the clinical effects of general anesthesia and epidural anesthesia on abdominal surgery for elder patients,and to explore its feasibility and safety.Methods： A total of 82 elderly patients with abdominal surgery were randomly divided into general anesthesia combined with epidural anesthesia group（GEA group） and a single anesthesia group（GA group）.Patients in GEA group were given general anesthesia combined with epidural anesthesia,while patients in GA group were given only general anesthesia.The clinical effect and various indexes were observed and compared.Results： The extubation time after surgery,full recovery time of spontaneous breathing and awake time of the GEA Group were shorter than those of the GA group,while the dosage of narcotic drugs during general anesthesia of the GEA group was significantly less than that of the GA group,with significant differences in those indexes between two groups（P0.05）.The MBP,HR and SpO2 were relatively stable throughout the surgery in the GEA group,while the MBP and HR were unstable in the GA group.Conclusions： General anesthesia combined with epidural anesthesia is effective,with small drug dosage and quick recovery after surgery.It is preferred choice in clinical anesthesia for abdominal surgery.
