Laparoscopic ovarian drilling as treatment for 96 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome

Objective： To discuss the clinical efficacy of laparoscopic ovarian drilling（LOD） on infertility due to polycystic ovary syndrome（PCOS）.Methods： A total of 96 patients with PCOS underwent LOD from March 2007 to July 2010 in our hospital.Then ovulation,pregnancy,changes in FSH、LH、E2 and T values as well as menstruation period were observed and compared before and after the surgery.Results： After surgery,the ovulation rate was 92.3%,pregnancy rate was 82.3%,LH and the T values decreased showing significant difference comparing with that before the surgery（P0.05）.The menstruation（volume and duration） in all patients were significantly improved and the menstrual cycle was 26~45 d after the surgery.Conclusion： With less complication,lower incidence of adhesion,LOD is an effective and safe treatment for PCOS which shows high ovulation and pregnancy rate as well as low rate of miscarriage.
