Two different treatments for distal radius fractures

Objective： To compare the effect of two treatment of unstable distal radius fractures： distal radial（oblique） T-shaped bone plate fixation and external fixation.Methods： Clinical data of 68 cases with unstable distal radius fractures admitted from June 2006 to December 2010 were retrospectively analyzed,including 26 cases treated by plate fixation,and 19 cases treated by external fixation.The excellent and good rate were compared.Results： The result of follow-up for 6 to 28 months,with an average of 18.5 months showed that in plate fixation group the excellent and good rate was 81.8% in A type,77.7% in B type and 50.0% in C type;while the rate was100%,100.0%,75.0% and 69.2% in type A,B,C,respectively in external fixation group.There was no significant difference in B type（P 0.05）,but significant in C type（P0.05）.Conclusions： There is no difference in excellent and good rate for type B,but for type C,external fixation group is more effective than plate fixation.
