Effectiveness of Ilizarov for the treatment of Pilon fracture

Objective To study the effectiveness of Ilizarov for the treatment of Pilon fracture.Methods Eighty Pilon fracture patients were selected from April 2016 to April 2018.The patients were randomly divided into control group and experimental group,40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with plate fixation,while the experimental group was treated with Ilizarov external fixator.The American Orthopaedic Foot And Ankle Society(AOFAS)score,fracture healing time,ankle joint(Kofoed)score,treatment efficiency and complications were analyzed.Results The AOFAS scores of pain,function and walking in the two groups were higher than those before treatment(P<0.05).The AOFAS scores of pain,function and walking in the experimental group after treatment were higher than those in the control group after treatment,with statistical difference(P<0.05).The healing time of fracture in the experimental group was shorter than that in the control group,and the Kofoed score in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 90.00%,higher than 75.00%in the control group,and the healing rate of fracture in the experimental group was 100%,higher than 87.50%in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the experimental group was 7.50%,lower than that in the control group 25.00%(P<0.05).Conclusion Ilizarov is effective in the treatment of Pilon fracture with fewer complications and good healing effect,and is worthy of clinical application.
