Real-world data analysis of revisit rates of children with epilepsy

Objective To analyze real-world data analysis of revisit rates of children with epilepsy and provide foundamental data for improving chronic disease management of children with epilepsy.Methods Electronic medical records of inpatients and outpatients in Shenzhen Children's Hospital from January 2014 to May 2020 were collected to establish an epilepsy database.The number of patients at different time points were counted,including the number of patients who still had medical records at months 1,3,6,12,18 and 24 after the initial visit.Revisit rates were analyzed.Results A total of 33762 children with epilepsy were enrolled,among which,254110 medical visits were recorded.Revisit rates of different age groups,case frequency distribution and different time points(1 month,2 months,3 months,6 months,12 months,18 months and 24 months)were significantly different(χ²=1806.6645,P<0.0001).There were three age groups with higher case frequency than other age groups,in which their age order was 12~36 months old,36~72 months old,and 6~12 years.The revisit rates ranged from the highest at 1 month old,76.6%at the age of 12 to 18 years old to the lowest at 24 months old,and only 12.2%in the 0~1 month old.Conclusion Real-world data analysis reveals that revisit rates are low.As a regional comprehensive epilepsy center for children,efforts should be made in various aspects to increase the their revisit rate.
