Detection of nucleic acid is a method to first confirm COVID-19 theoretically, but it may show false negative result in clinical practice. This study indicates that suspected patients with COVID-19 cannot be ruled out easily because of once or twice negative results of nucleic acid detection. The epidemiology and radiological findings should be closely monitored. Dynamic test for viral nucleic acid is needed to avoid missed diagnosis, thus causing the spread of disease and missing the best time for early treatment. Clinical epidemiology, radiological findings, sampling time and criteria have posed significance to diagnose the disease and judge the severity.
