Abstract:Recently, the prevalence of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) has been increasingly reported in patients with type 2 diabetes and obesity. NASH exists not only in adults but also in children. We report on an 16-year-old boy with prolonged hepatitis associated with NASH after cytomegalovirus hepatitis. Increased transaminase levels recovered in parallel to his weight reduction. Conclusion:Clinicians should be aware of the possibility that prolonged acute hepatitis might be associated with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in adolescents.
