| Abstract: | Pure preparations of E. coli endotoxin ( 2mg/kg ) were injected into the peritoneal cavity of the rats. The rats were killed by decapitation after the injection in 2hrs., 4 hrs., 8 hrs., 14 hrs and 24 hrs. The contents of GSH in the liver, spleen and brain were determined. Theresults indicated that GSH in the liver promptly decreased ( 52% in 2hrs., 33% in 4 hrs. ) after the injection of endotoxin in the peritonealcavity. The contents of GSH in the spleen and brain all decreased in 4 hours ( spleen 37%, brain 22%). All GSH in the viscera restored to the normal level in 8 hours. It suggested that the liver, spleen and brain could be damaged by the poisoning of endotoxin. |
