Abstract: | Middle ear pressure was recorded from 396 ears and aural symptoms enquired of 198 adult subjects with seasonal allergic rhinitis. Evidence of Eustachian tube dysfunction was found in 24% of subjects. Increased duration of exposure to pollen over a further 2 weeks increased the incidence of Eustachian tube dysfunction to 48%. The development of Eustachian tube dysfunction did not correlate with the severity of nasal symptoms. |
