Efficacy of Montelukast Combined With Salmeterol in the Treatment of Severe Asthma

Objective To observe and analyze the effect of montelukast combined with salmeterol in the treatment of patients with severe asthma.Methods 86 patients with severe asthma admitted to our hospital from January 2014 to December 2019 were selected and divided into the experimental group(montelukast combined with salmeterol)and the control group(salmeterol alone)according to the random table method of Numbers,with 43 patients in each group.Statistical analysis was performed on the disappearance time of clinical symptoms(rales,cough,dyspnea,wheezing,etc.),total effective rate of treatment,and pulmonary function indexes before and after treatment(1s volume of forced breathing,forced respiratory peak velocity,ratio of forced breathing to vital capacity)of patients with severe asthma in the two groups.Results Two groups of patients with severe asthma treatment before lung function index(1 s forced expiratory volume,forced respiratory peak velocity,volume ratio of lung capacity)was no statistical significance(P>0.05),the experimental group after treatment of pulmonary function in patients with severe asthma index(1 s forced expiratory volume,forced respiratory peak velocity,volume ratio of lung capacity)was significantly higher than control group(P<0.05);the disappearance time of clinical symptoms(rlona,cough,dyspnea and wheezing)in patients with severe asthma in the experimental group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the total effective rate of treatment in patients with severe asthma in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Montelukast combined with salmeterol is effective in treating patients with severe asthma.
