Mechanical scratching, a common external stress affecting the skin, is induced by various causes, such as pruritus. Scratch injury to epidermal keratinocytes upregulates the production and release of chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 20 (CCL20) in vitro, which selectively chemoattracts interleukin (IL)-17A-producing immune cells that express chemokine (C-C motif) receptor 6 (CCR6). In IL-17A-dominant psoriasis, scratch-induced CCL20 upregulation and subsequent accumulation of IL-17A-producing immune cells and CCR6+ mature dendritic cells may trigger the development of psoriatic lesions, a process known as the Koebner phenomenon. In IL-4/IL-13-dominant atopic dermatitis, pruritus and subsequent scratching are the primary symptoms. Scratch-induced CCL20 production from keratinocytes may explain why IL-17A levels are also elevated in atopic dermatitis. In contrast, mechanical scratching is likely to negatively regulate IL-13 signaling by upregulating the expression of IL-13 receptor α2, which serves as a decoy receptor for IL-13 in keratinocytes. In this review, we summarize current reports on topics related to the pathogenic role of epidermal scratch injury in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.  相似文献

Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is one of a number of neuropeptides with powerful orexigenic effects. Intracerebroventricular administration of NPY induces increases in food intake and alters feeding rate. Besides it role in feeding behavior, NPY also has significant effects on neuronal systems related to other spontaneous behaviors such as rearing and grooming. In the present study, we examined the direct effects of NPY on mesencephalic V neurons (Mes V), which are important sensory neurons involved in oral motor reflexes and rhythmical jaw movements, as well as masticatory proprioception. Coronal brain slices were prepared from neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats (P3-17) and whole-cell patch clamp recordings were obtained from Mes V neurons. Bath application of NPY depolarized the membrane potential and induced inward current in most neurons. Application of NPY shortened the duration of the afterhyperpolarization following an action potential, and increased the mean spike frequency during repetitive discharge. In those neurons which exhibited rhythmical burst discharge in response to maintained current injection, the bursting frequency was also increased. These effects were mediated predominately by both Y1 and Y5 receptors.  相似文献

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is an important health care concern. Alterations in the microbiota of the gut-brain axis may be linked to the pathophysiology of IBS. Some dietary intake could contribute to produce various metabolites including D-amino acids by the fermentation by the gut microbiota. D-amino acids are the enantiomeric counterparts of L-amino acids, in general, which could play key roles in cellular physiological processes against various oxidative stresses. Therefore, the presence of D-amino acids has been shown to be linked to the protection of several organs in the body. In particular, the gut microbiota could play significant roles in the stability of emotion via the action of D-amino acids. Here, we would like to shed light on the roles of D-amino acids, which could be used for the treatment of IBS.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the position and course of the mandibular canal through the mandibular ramus using computed tomographic (CT) imaging and to relate the findings to performing sagittal split ramus osteotomies. The mandibles of 35 patients with skeletal Class III prognathism with symmetry (12 males and 23 females) were observed on transaxial computed tomograms acquired with a slice thickness of 2 mm. The position and course of the mandibular canal from the mandibular foramen to the mandibular body at the level of the second molar were measured at four specific locations in the same plane. Among the 70 rami examined, lack of a bone marrow space on the buccal side, including a fusion type anatomy with no buccal side cortical bone of the mandibular canal, were observed at the CT location between the mandibular foramen and mandibular angle. Our results suggest that special care must be taken when sagittal splitting is performed, and the safest location for the buccal corticotomy is anterior to the mandibular angle.  相似文献

This study assessed the relationship between craniofacial characteristics and the size of the pharyngeal airway space (PAS), taking into account head posture. Sixty dental students 25-30 years of age (30 men and 30 women) were examined by lateral cephalometry. The data were corrected with the use of appropriate regression equations for the PAS. The PAS significantly correlated with hyoid position, maxillary and mandibular size, maxillary and mandibular prognathism, and mandibular inclination. A large, anteriorly positioned mandible was associated with a large PAS-TP (the most proximal distance between the posterior pharyngeal wall and the tongue base). Uvula length and PNS-Ba (the distance between the most posterior point of the hard palate and the most inferior point of the anterior foramen magnum) correlated with PAS-UP (the most proximal distance between the posterior pharyngeal wall and uvula). Our results suggest that the anteroposterior dimension of the PAS is substantially affected by the size of the enclosure surrounding the PAS, including the maxilla, mandible and soft palate.  相似文献
