INTRODUCTION. Latvian government Health care financing regulations do not envisage free dental care in nursing homes. Consequently, in this situation arises need to carry out comparative evaluation of oral health status and quantity indicators of dental prosthodontics among retirement-age population in Latvia. The aim of the study was to estimate oral health and dental prosthodontics indicators among retirement-age population in Latvia. PATIENTS AND METHODS. We examinated 465 retirement-age inhabitants in Latvia. We assessed dental status, quantity and quality of the existing complete dental prostheses. We also evaluated the DMF-T index. RESULTS. Oral health indicators among Latvian retirement-age population are better than those for nursing homes residents in the same age group. Complete dental prostheses used by nursing homes residents do not meet denture's quality criteria. Retirement-age patients have oral hygiene problems. CONCLUSIONS. DMF-T index among Latvian retirement-age population is lower than among residents of nursing homes. The major component of DMF-T index is the number of lost teeth. The assessment of dental prostheses among residents of nursing homes showed unsatisfactory results. Retirement-age population in Latvia needs treatment of oral mucosal diseases, improvement of oral hygienic measures and increase of amount of dental prosthodontics.  相似文献

Chronic stress and depression have adverse consequences on many organ systems, including the skeleton, but the mechanisms underlying stress‐induced bone loss remain unclear. Here we demonstrate that neuropeptide Y (NPY), centrally and peripherally, plays a critical role in protecting against stress‐induced bone loss. Mice lacking the anxiolytic factor NPY exhibit more anxious behavior and elevated corticosterone levels. Additionally, following a 6‐week restraint, or cold‐stress protocol, Npy‐null mice exhibit three‐fold greater bone loss compared to wild‐type mice, owing to suppression of osteoblast activity. This stress‐protective NPY pathway acts specifically through Y2 receptors. Centrally, Y2 receptors suppress corticotropin‐releasing factor expression and inhibit activation of noradrenergic neurons in the paraventricular nucleus. In the periphery, they act to control noradrenaline release from sympathetic neurons. Specific deletion of arcuate Y2 receptors recapitulates the Npy‐null stress response, coincident with elevated serum noradrenaline. Importantly, specific reintroduction of NPY solely in noradrenergic neurons of otherwise Npy‐null mice blocks the increase in circulating noradrenaline and the stress‐induced bone loss. Thus, NPY protects against excessive stress‐induced bone loss, through Y2 receptor‐mediated modulation of central and peripheral noradrenergic neurons. © 2014 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.  相似文献

目的:间充质干细胞具有强大的增殖能力和多向分化潜能,文章对其主要的来源途径予以综述。资料来源:应用计算机检索Medline1991-01/2006-01期间的相关文章,检索词为“mesenchyma stem cells,origin,research progress”,并限定文章语言种类为English。同时计算机检索中国期刊全文数据库1998-01/2006-10期间的相关文章,检索词为“间充质干细胞,来源,研究进展”,并限定文章语言种类为中文。资料选择:对资料进行初审,并查看每篇文献后的引文。纳入标准:①间充质干细胞的起源。②间充质干细胞研究进展、干细胞的分离及鉴定。排除标准:重复研究、个案报告或Meta分析类文章。资料提炼:共收集到96篇相关文献,40篇文献符合纳入标准,排除的56篇文献为内容陈旧或重复。符合纳入标准的40篇文献中,分别涉及骨髓、肌肉、脐血、胎盘、外周血、脂肪组织、血管及其他来源的间充质干细胞。资料综合:间充质干细胞是属于中胚层的一类多能干细胞,具有强大的增殖能力和多向分化潜能,动物模型试验和临床应用研究也取得了一定的效果。间充质干细胞来源广泛,易于获得,临床上为神经损伤及其他系统的损伤修复提供了更为广泛的途径。结论:间充质干细胞主要来源于骨髓、肌肉、脐血、外周血、胎盘等组织,具有广阔的应用前景。  相似文献

Over the last 20 years the number of Dutch patients on home mechanical ventilation has increased from 200 to 2000. Home mechanical ventilation is a cost-effective treatment which significantly improves the quality of life of patients. In 2011 83% of patients on home mechanical ventilation in the Netherlands is living at home. In the future further growth can be expected in the number of patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome and a potential new group of patients with COPD. Strict conditions are necessary to ensure safety in the complex care that home mechanical ventilation entails.  相似文献

The potential long term environmental impacts of a landfill on groundwater quality depend on its liner material properties. In case synthetic liner materials are damaged during the construction or operation, many of the original chemical and biological constituents are removed by filtration and the adsorptive action of natural liner materials such as natural zeolite, perlite and bentonite minerals. Before leachate treatment, reduction of these constituents is important not only to leachate percolation, but also treatment cost and efficiency. In this study, the pollutant removal efficiency from the leachate was investigated for natural natural zeolite, expanded perlite and bentonite. Experimental studies was performed in boxes made of glass and with 1:10 sloping. Leachate quantity was determined and pH, electrical conductivity (EC), nitrate (NO(3)-N), ammonium-nitrogen (NH(4)-N), phosphate (PO(4)), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and organic matter in leachate samples were measured and the measurement was compared with control process (System 4). The results showed that natural zeolite was effective in removing NO(3), NH(4), PO(4), COD and organic matter with removal efficiencies of 91.20, 95.6, 95.5, 83.4 and 87.8%, respectively. Expanded perlite has high efficiency removing of NO(3), PO(4) and COD 83.2, 91.0 and 62.5%, respectively, but it was unsuccessful in reducing NH(4) (1.5%).  相似文献
