Introduction

Knowing the important factors influencing sexual function and body image might facilitate the recovery process of breast cancer survivors. Surgery type, relationship quality, and partner support might be modified to create a space for psychosexual intervention.

Patients and Methods

This retrospective questionnaire-based study was performed on 128 women aged 18 to 65 years who were free of disease at time of study entry and who underwent surgical treatment for breast cancer. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders criteria were used to assessed female sexual dysfunction (FSD). Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire (CSFQ) were used to measure sexual function, whereas the Body Image After Breast Cancer Questionnaire (BIBCQ) was used to assess body image. The support of the partner was evaluated by the Provisions of Social Relation Scale (PSRS).

Results

The median age of the studied respondents was 52.5 ± 10.1 years. FSD was diagnosed in 27.3% women. Lower physical satisfaction in relationship (odds ratio [OR] = 2.3), undergoing mastectomy (OR = 4.1) higher level of anxiety (OR = 4.2), and shorter duration of relationship (OR = 1.1) as well as not receiving adjuvant chemotherapy (F = 3.54), higher level of emotional satisfaction in relationship (F = 20.32), longer time after completion of oncologic treatment (F = 8.76), undergoing breast-conserving therapy (compared to mastectomy) (F = 13.21), and lower level of anxiety (F = 31,25) were important factors for the prevalence of FSD and positive body image, respectively.

Conclusion

Type of surgery, time after completion of treatment, level of anxiety, adjuvant chemotherapy, partner support, and satisfying quality of relationship are important factors for sexual function, sexual quality of life, and body image in female breast cancer survivors.  相似文献

Microtubules are a target for a broad spectrum of drugs used as chemotherapeutics to treat hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Most of these drugs have significant dose‐limiting toxicities including peripheral neuropathies that can be debilitating and permanent. In an ongoing effort to develop safer and more effective drugs, benzimidazole‐based compounds are being developed as replacement for vincristine and similar agents. In this report, we describe radiosyntheses of novel microtubule‐targeting methyl N‐[5‐(3’‐radiohalobenzoyl)‐1H‐benzimidazol‐2‐yl]carbamates 4 that are intended as potential imaging agents and molecular radiotherapeutics. 125I‐ and 131I‐radiolabeled derivatives were prepared either by direct radioiodination of methyl N‐(6‐benzoyl‐1H‐benzimidazol‐2‐yl)carbamate 1 or radioiododestannylation of the corresponding stannane precursor 3 . The direct radioiodination was conducted in a solution of 1 in triflic acid and produced after ~1 hour at elevated temperatures and HPLC purification on average 62% of the no‐carrier added products 125I‐ 4 and 131I‐ 4 . Radioiododestannylation of 3’‐trimethylstannane 3 proceeded with ease at room temperature in the presence of H2O2 as the oxidant and produced no‐carrier‐added 125I‐ 4 and 131I‐ 4 in high isolated yields, on average 85%. The radiohalodestannylation protocol is universal and can be applied to other radiohalides including 124I to produce 124I‐ 4 , a positron emission tomography agent, and 211At to produce 211At‐ 4 , an α‐particle emitting radiotherapeutic.  相似文献

Background

Selenium is an essential element which shows protective properties against diverse harmful factors. Lithium compounds are widely used in medicine, but, in spite of undoubted beneficial effects, treatment with these compounds may lead to severe side effects, including renal, gastrointestinal, neurological, endocrine and metabolic disorders. This study was aimed at evaluating the influence of selenium and/or lithium on lithium, iron, zinc and copper content in rats’ erythrocytes as well as estimate the action of additional selenium on lithium exposure effects.

Methods

The experiment was performed on four groups of rats (six animals each): control – received saline; Li – received 2.7 mg Li/kg b.w. as lithium carbonate; Se – received 0.5 mg Se/kg b.w. as sodium selenite; Se + Li – received simultaneously 0.5 mg Se/kg b.w. and 2.7 mg Li/kg b.w. (sodium selenite and lithium carbonate). The administration was performed for three weeks, once a day by stomach tube, in form of water solutions. In erythrocytes the content of lithium, iron, zinc and copper was determined using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy.

Results

Lithium treatment insignificantly disturbed iron and zinc homeostasis as well as markedly increased lithium accumulation and copper content in rat erythrocytes. Selenium coadministration reversed those effects.

Conclusions

The beneficial effect of selenium on disturbances of studied microelements homeostasis as well as on preventing lithium accumulation in erythrocytes in Li receiving animals allows suggesting that further research on selenium application as an adjuvant in lithium therapy is worth carrying on.  相似文献

The genus Taraxacum is used in the assessment of soil contamination with heavy metals. There are relatively few studies using sections or species representing this genus. The presented research was conducted in Poland on two habitats, varied in terms of nutrients and metals content. The content of selected metals in leaves and roots of Taraxacum sect. Taraxacum was determined. It was found that in the conditions of increased content of metals in the soil, the analysed species representing sect. Taraxacum accumulate higher amounts of metals in their leaves and roots. Factors of translocation of selected metals from roots to leaves of Taraxacum species, representing the Taraxacum section, are affected by i.a. soil reaction and the content of Corg, Ntot. in the soil. No influence of soil properties on metal biological concentration factor was observed.  相似文献

Several charge transfer agents have been investigated using cyclic voltammetry. We report multistep mechanisms involving both chemical and electrochemical steps, for the three compounds in the study. The overall mechanism consists of two quasi-reversible electron transfer events, each followed by a chemical step, an ECEC mechanism. The first cyclic voltammetric wave for each compound was studied separately. After the second quasi-reversible electron transfer, a third oxidation wave is observed under conditions of high concentration and slower scan rates. This is attributed to direct oxidation of the product of the second chemical step, which is identified as oligomer formation. This hypothesis is consistent with the physically observed formation of a film on the surface of the electrode, presumably from electrooxidative oligomerization of the compound.  相似文献

In order to determine the frequency of microtubule-associated protein tau gene (MAPT) mutations and rare variants in CBD, we performed a systematic sequence analysis of MAPT coding and 3′ untranslated region (3′UTR) in a large cohort of autopsy-confirmed CBD patients (N = 109). This identified a novel MAPT mutation in exon 13, p.N410H, in a case that is neuropathologically indistinguishable from sporadic CBD. On immunoblot, the p.N410H mutation carrier had the same insoluble tau profile as seen in CBD. Additionally, tau expression analysis in brain tissue found a significant increase in the 4R/3R tau mRNA ratio (P = 0.04), indicating that p.N410H disrupts tau isoform homeostasis. Biochemically, recombinant tau protein with p.N410H showed a marked increase in tau filament formation compared to wild-type tau (P < 0.001), had a 19.2 % decrease in rate of microtubule assembly (P < 0.05), and a 10.3 % reduction in the extent of total microtubule polymerization (P < 0.01). Sequence analysis of the complete MAPT 3′UTR in autopsy-confirmed CBD cases further identified two rare variants with nominally significant association with CBD. An ATC nucleotide insertion (“MAPTv8”) was found in 4.6 % of CBD patients compared to 1.2 % of controls (P = 0.031, OR = 3.71), and rs186977284 in 4.6 % CBD patients, but only 0.9 % of controls (P = 0.04, OR = 3.58). Rs186977284 was also present in 2.7 % of a large cohort of autopsy-confirmed PSP patients (N = 566) and only 0.9 % of an additional control series (P = 0.034, OR = 3.08), extending the association to PSP. Our findings show that mutations in MAPT can cause CBD and MAPT non-coding variants may increase the risk of complex 4R tauopathies.  相似文献
