Introduction: Endometrial cancer is the fourth most common female cancer and also distant metastases to the chest wall associated with these tumors are seen less common. Surgical treatment options for metastases of endometrial cancer are limited.

Case: A 57-year-old patient who underwent total abdominal hysterectomy?+?bilateral salpingo oophorectomy and received adjuvant chemotherapy for endometrioid-type adenocarcinoma of the endometrium and tuba is presented. The patient initially presented with pleural effusion 8 years ago and the tumor was detected while during etiologic screening. The patient had no problems after adjuvant chemotherapy and had been living in another city when she presented with a mass on the chest wall measuring 20?×?15?×?12?cm 8 years after the initial diagnosis and distant organ metastasis due to the first surgery was detected. The mass was first thought to be a sarcoma and the tru-cut biopsy revealed a metastatic lesion that was immunohistochemically similar to the first surgical specimen. The mass was resected with a wide radical excision and ‘no touch’ technique. The patient was then discharged with no postoperative complications.

Conclusion: Here in, a case with a distant organ metastasis due to an endometrioid-type adenocarcinoma is presented accompanied by literature data.  相似文献

Background

Atopic dermatitis is a common illness in childhood. Children with atopic dermatitis are prone to develop cutaneous sensitization due to skin barrier dysfunction.

Aim

The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of cutaneous sensitizations in patients with atopic dermatitis and to identify the most frequent causative allergens.

Study design

The study group consisted of 112 children with atopic dermatitis, aged 1–18 years (median 88.5 months) and 39 healthy controls, aged 1–8 years (median 88.48 months).

Methods

The diagnosis of atopic dermatitis was established by modified Hanifin and Rajka criteria; severity of the disease was assessed by scoring of atopic dermatitis. Serum blood eosinophil count, total IgE and skin prick tests for common aeroallergens and food allergens were performed. Patch tests with cosmetic series and European standard patch test series (Stallegenes© Ltd, Paris, France) were applied.

Results

Of the children with atopic dermatitis, 17% (n = 19) were sensitized to either cosmetic or standard series or both of them; no children in the control group had a positive patch test (p = 0.001). Atopy and severity of atopic dermatitis was not a significant risk factor for cutaneous sensitization. The most common allergens were Nickel sulphate and Methychloroisothiazinolone (4.5% and 4.5%) in the European standard patch test and cocamidoproplybetaine (12.5%) in the cosmetic series patch test.

Conclusion

Cutaneous sensitization can develop in children with atopic dermatitis, therefore allergic contact dermatitis should be kept in mind.  相似文献

Abstract

Aim: Dietary miRNAs in foods were recently suggested to be absorbed into the human circulation and engage in human gene regulation. This started a debate on their possible impacts on human diseases which need further investigation. In this study, we aimed to identify the putative functions and possible implications of selected Xeno-miRs in human diseases by using bioinformatic tools.

Methods: Seventy-five human absorbable Xeno-miR candidates were selected from literature and narrowed down the list to miRNAs that share sequence homologies with human miRNAs. Sixteen distinct Xeno-miRs of animal species (cow, pig, chicken) were identified to have homologs in human and they were subsequently analyzed with target prediction, functional and pathway analysis tools.

Results and Conclusion: Thirteen human genes were common targets of the miRNA sets grouped by species and shown evidence of associations with various cancer categories, specifically in large intestine adenocarcinoma by Ingenuity Pathway Analysis. miRNA functional enrichment analyses also highlighted the putative involvements of the dietary miRNAs in cancer pathways. Our effort provides “in silico” evidence for implications of animal-derived dietary miRNAs in cancer-associated pathways, and this shed on light the necessities of future translational research design to investigate the roles of dietary Xeno-miRs in cancer pathophysiology and nutrition-based interventions towards cancer management.  相似文献

A strong association has been reported between chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL) and malignant melanoma (MM). In rare cases of MM, lymphoid malignancies may be detected incidentally during sentinel lymph node biopsies. In this case, we found a unique collision of MM and CLL infiltration in the skin. An 88-year-old male patient presented with a mass on the nasal root. Histopathological examination of the skin biopsy specimen revealed a deeply infiltrative, atypical spindle cell proliferation in the background of a collagenous stroma. Accompanying this lesion, there were foci of monotonous lymphoid cell populations involving skin appendages. In the immunohistochemical studies, the spindle cells were diffusely positive for S100, and focally positive for Melan-A and HMB45; the lymphoid cells were positive for CD20, CD5, and Bcl-2 and negative for CD3, Bcl-6, CD10, and Cyclin D1. Histopathological and immunohistochemical findings were consistent with diagnoses of spindle cell melanoma and CLL. Interestingly, these two tumors together in their same morphological appearance were confirmed in a subsequent liver biopsy. Active skin surveillance of patients with CLL may be important to detect MM at an early stage that correlates with a better prognosis.  相似文献

Fine particles with a characteristic size smaller than 100?nm (i.e. nanoparticlesspread out in nowadays life. Silicon or Si, is one of the most abundant chemical elements found on the Earth. Its oxide forms, such as silicate (SiO4) and silicon dioxide, also known as silica (SiO2), are the main constituents of sand and quartz contributing to 90% of the Earth's crust. In this work, three genotoxicity systems “sister chromatid exchange, cytokinesis block micronucleus test and single cell gel electrophoresis (comet) assay” were employed to provide further insight into the cytotoxic and mutagenic/genotoxic potential of SiO2 nanoparticules (particle size 6?nm, 20?nm, 50?nm) in cultured peripheral blood lymphocytes as in vitro. It was observed that there is a significant decrease in Mitotic index (MI), Cytokinesis block proliferation index (CBPI), proliferation index (PRI) values expressed as Cell Kinetic parameters compared with negative control (p?2 (6?nm, 20?nm, 50?nm) (p?p?p?2 nanoparticles at different size (6, 20, 50?nm) progressively increased the SCE frequency and DNA damage on the basis the AU values compared with negative control (p?2 nanoparticules is dependent to particule size.  相似文献
