Anxiety disorders are the most frequent mental disorders and are more prevalent in the female population. Up to date, an involvement of guanylate cyclase A and B in anxiety‐like behavior has been suggested. In this study, we showed an expression of guanylate cyclase C (GC‐C) in the amygdala which is regulated by feeding. Therefore, we further investigated sex differences of GC‐C effects on anxiety levels with special attention to female estrous cycle and feeding. The effects of estrous cycle and feeding were investigated by several behavior tests: elevated plus maze, home cage escape and novelty‐induced hypophagy. Possible changes in GC‐C expression in amygdala and hypothalamus during estrous cycle were established by qPCR. When GC‐C is activated (after a meal), the sex difference in all behavior tests used was abolished. As the expression of mRNA for GC‐C in the amygdala increases 2 hr after a meal only in female animals, the anxiety levels change after a meal again only in female animals. When the anxiety levels are investigated, it is very important to pay attention not only to estrous cycle in female animals but also when animals were fed compared to the time point of the experiments. Concluding from our results, the sex differences in the incidence of anxiety disorders in humans could be GC‐C dependent. 相似文献
Purpose: Adipose tissue expansion can occur through several different ways and, under certain conditions, can be connected with chronic inflammation. TNF-α is one of the important cytokines involved in this process. Prolonged inflammation in obesity can lead to obesity-related insulin resistance and tissue dysfunction. The aim of our study was to investigate how different combination of maternal and postnatal diet affects offspring adipose tissue morphology and adipose tissue TNF-α expression.
Methods: Ten female Sprague Dawley rats, 9 weeks old, were randomly divided into two groups and fed either standard laboratory chow or food rich in saturated fatty acids during 6 weeks and then mated with the same male rat. After birth and lactation male rat offspring from both groups were divided into four subgroups depending on the diet they were fed until 22 weeks old. Samples of white adipose tissue were taken from the subcutaneous, epididymal, and perirenal fat pad. On tissue sections, histomorphometric analysis was conducted using CellProfiler program v 2.1.1, and immunohistochemical staining for TNF-α was performed.
Results: Greater mean surface area of subcutaneous and epididymal adipocytes was found in groups of male rat offspring with altered diet. In perirenal adipose tissue, the highest number of adipocytes was measured in the group where both mother and offspring were fed a high-fat diet. Adipocyte staining intensity for TNF-α did not differ significantly between the groups.
Conclusions: Together with our previously published data, our results lead to the conclusion that alteration of postnatal diet can lead to TNF-α and adipocyte morphology changes. 相似文献
Cutaneous manifestations are becoming increasingly well-documented in adults with COVID-19. There is now also a growing body of literature regarding skin involvement in children, with reports of papulovesicular, petechial and widespread macular and papular lesions, and chilblains (pernio). We describe the case of a 13-year-old boy with confirmed COVID-19 in the United Kingdom who presented with skin findings localized to the plantar aspects of the feet, axillae, and lower limbs. The morphology was predominantly maculopapular but also included petechiae and annular lesions. 相似文献
OBJECTIVES: Basosquamous carcinoma (BSC) is a rare tumor entity, and the most common onset is in the head and neck region (BSC-HN). The data on diagnosis, treatment, and especially risk assessment concerning disease course and outcome are deficient or inconsistent. This study aimed to evaluate risk factors for local relapse (LR) and lymph node metastasis (LNM) and their impact on progression-free survival (PFS). MATERIALS AND METHODS: In a retrospective monocentric study, patients with BSC-HN treated between 1999 and 2011 were analyzed regarding clinical and histologic characteristics. Prognostic parameters for LR, LNM, and PFS were evaluated. In total, 89 patients (55 male, 34 female, mean age of 71.8 years) with a mean follow-up time of 47.7 months (range 12-112) were included. RESULTS: LR occurred in four patients (4.5%), LNM occurred in five patients (5.6%). Patients with LNM had a significantly shorter PFS time (16.1 months) compared with patients without LNM (154.2 months; P < .001). Tumor depth and size (T classification), incomplete resection, localization at the ear, deep maximal vertical infiltration, muscle and vessel invasion all showed significant (P < .05) associations with LR, LNM, and shorter PFS time. BSC showed more histologic features of basal cell carcinoma (BCC), especially with regard to BerEP4 expression. CONCLUSION: While histology shows some typical characteristics of BCC, the biologic behavior and aggressiveness of BSC are similar to those of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. This is the first study to show that LR and, especially, LNM indicate a higher risk of an unfavorable outcome. 相似文献
We investigated the efficacy of alveolar distraction for reducing crown height:implant length ratio in the posterior mandible. Ten alveolar distractions were done in seven patients. The pre-distraction ratio of required crown height to bone height available for implantation was in all cases > or =1. Two implants were placed in each distracted area (total 20 implants). Before distraction, the mean (SD) predicted crown height was 12.8 (2.1) mm; mean bone height available for implantation was 7.8 (1.5) mm. After distraction and insertion of implants, mean crown height was 8.1 (1.9) mm, and mean implant length was 11.3 (1.9) mm. Before distraction, the mean required crown height:available bone height ratio was 1.7 (0.3); after distraction and insertion of implants, the mean crown:implant ratio was 0.7 (0.2) (P<0.0005). Alveolar distraction is effective for increasing the height of the alveolar ridge in the posterior mandibular region, and should be considered when the height of the predicted crown that is required is greater than or equal to the maximum height of bone available for implantation. 相似文献
ABSTRACTObjective: The aim of this study was to correlate degree of depression, somatization, and chronic pain in asymptomatic women with clinical findings, using Research Diagnostic Criteria/Temporomandibular disorders (RDC/TMD). Methods: A total of 200 female participants, ages 18–65, filled out a standard RDC/TMD axis II form for the assessment of chronic pain, disability, depression, and non-specific physical symptoms and underwent clinical examination of the temporomandibular joint. Correlation of clinical findings (axis I) and axis II assessment was performed using Spearman’s correlation test, with significance set at p < 0.05. Results: There was a significant correlation between depression scores (p < 0.04), chronic pain (p < 0.001), and non-specific physical symptoms without questions about pain (p = 0.008). Discussion: The highest scores on the Graded Chronic Pain Scale were observed in patients with arthralgia, while patients with myofascial pain scored higher on depression and somatization tests. 相似文献
