Objectives: This three-year study was conducted to evaluate the tensile bond strengths of a dual-cured bonding resin, with and without priming, to bovine dentin.Methods: Superficial bovine dentin was conditioned with 37% phosphoric acid and left unprimed (control) or was primed with 5-NMSA. Clearfil Photobond (Kuraray Co., Japan) was placed and light-cured, a layer of Protect Liner (Kuraray Co.) was applied, cured, then covered with Photo Clearfil Bright (Kurary Co.) resin composite and cured. Bonds were stressed in tension to failure at 1 d, 1 mon, 3 mon, 6 mon, 1 y and 3 y after preparation. Ten specimens were made for each group. Results were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. Visual and SEM observations determined mode of failure and were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U-test. Separate 1 d and 3 y specimens were fractured across the bonded interface and observed using a Field Emission SEM. After observation, the photomicrographs were compared for visual qualitative changes between the two time periods.Results: The control (non-primed) group showed only a small decrease in bond strengths over 3 y, but in the primed group, a significant decrease was observed (p < 0.05). The bond strength of the non-primed group (5.2 MPa) was less than the primed group (10.6 MPa) at 1 d (p < 0.01), but by 3 y, the bonds of both groups were similar, 4.3 MPa and 5.5 MPa, respectively. Fractography indicated that only adhesive failure occurred in the control group. Failure in the primed group was cohesive in dentin initially, but shifted to the base or top of the hybrid layer after 1 y. Field Emission SEM observations showed hybrid layer formation in the primed group, but minimal resin infiltration in the control group.Significance: Initially greater bond strengths were obtained for the primed group compared to the unprimed group (p < 0.01). However, by 3 y, the bond strength had decreased markedly in the primed group (p < 0.01), being almost the same for both groups. It was concluded that priming may only be useful to achieve strong bonding in the short term. These results may have significant implications related to clinical longevity of restorations.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to evaluate the tensile bond durability of two different types of 4-META containing resin cements over a period of 3 years. METHODS: Ten bovine dentin specimens were tested for tensile bond strengths with each of the following materials: Super Bond C&B: unfilled methyl methacrylate (MMA)/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin cement, MASA Bond (experimental material): filled dimethacrylate resin cement at 1 day, 6 months, 1 and 3 years. The mean bond strengths were compared statistically by two-way ANOVA and Fisher's PLSD test (P<0.05). The mode of failure was classified by SEM observation. Results for the mode of fracture were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS: Although there was no statistical difference in mean bond strength between Super Bond C&B and MASA Bond (P>0.05) during the experimental periods, the 1-day bond strengths were significantly greater than those at the other experimental periods except for 6 months (P<0.05). Regarding the fracture modes, at 6 months and 1 year, statistical differences were observed between Super Bond C&B and MASA Bond (P<0.05). SIGNIFICANCE: The bond strengths of both resin cements to dentin significantly decreased after 6 months, and the long-term failure patterns of the 4-META/TBB resin cements showed a marked change.  相似文献

This study evaluated the effect of thermal stress on marginal sealing and cavity wall adaptation using two adhesive systems. Cylindrical cavities were prepared in superficial dentin of bovine incisors and bonded with Clearfil SE Bond or Single Bond adhesive. Cavities were bulk-filled with Photo Clearfil Bright or Filtek Flow resin composite and light-cured for 40 seconds. Specimens were thermocycled for 0, 500, or 5000 times. A dye penetration test was carried out to determine adaptation to the cavity wall. Dye penetration length was calculated as a percentage of the total cavity wall length. Clearfil SE Bond showed excellent marginal sealing and cavity wall adaptation regardless of composite type up to 500 cycles of thermal stress. As for the Single Bond groups, significantly greater marginal leakage occurred after 500 cycles. At 5000 cycles of thermal stress, both adhesive systems showed significantly decreased marginal integrity compared with the 0 cycle group.  相似文献

To determine the degree of surface roughness of glass-ionomer cements (GICs) and polyacid-modified resin composite (PAMRC) after polishing and immersion in various foodstuffs. Three tooth-coloured restorative materials were used: a PAMRC (F2000), a conventional glass-ionomer cement (CGIC) (Fuji IX) and a resin-modified glass-ionomer cements (RM-GIC) (Fuji II LC). Disk-shaped specimens were prepared and tested with either a plastics matrix finish or after polishing with wet silicon carbide papers up to 2000-grit. All specimens were immersed in 37 degrees C-distilled water for 1 week, followed by three different foodstuffs (red wine, coffee or tea) for a further 2 weeks. Replicas of specimens were prepared by taking polyvinyl siloxane impressions, casting in epoxy resin, gold sputter-coating and examining using a Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope. The polished and matrix finish specimens of F2000 showed many microcracks at low magnification, and eroded surfaces with missing and protruding particles at high magnification in the polished specimens. The surface-polished specimens of Fuji II LC were considerably rougher than the matrix-finish specimens, with large voids and protruding filler particles. The effects of foodstuffs on Fuji II LC and F2000 were not noticeable. The CGIC became noticeably rougher after exposure to coffee and tea. All specimens had the smoothest surface when they were cured against a plastics matrix strip, and all materials had a rougher surface after polishing. None of the foodstuffs produced a perceptible increase in roughness on RM-GIC and PAMRC surfaces, whereas coffee and tea markedly increased the surface roughness of Fuji IX.  相似文献

PURPOSE: When restoring hypomineralized first permanent molars, placement of cavo-surface margins can be difficult to ascertain due to uncertainty of the bonding capability of the tooth surface. The purpose of this study was to investigate the adhesion of resin composite bonded to control and hypomineralized enamel with an all-etch single-bottle adhesive or self-etching primer adhesive. METHODS: Specimens of control enamel (N=44) and hypomineralized enamel (N=45) had a 0.975-mm diameter composite rod (Filtek Supreme Universal Restorative) bonded with either 3M ESPE Single Bond or Clearfil SE Bond following manufacturers' instructions. Specimens were stressed in shear at 1 mm/min to failure (microshear bond strength). Etched enamel surfaces and enamel-adhesive interfaces were examined under scanning electron microscopy. RESULTS: The microshear bond strength (MPa) of resin composite bonded to hypomineralized enamel was significantly lower than for control enamel (3M ESPE Single Bond=7.08 +/- 4.90 vs 16.27 +/- 10.04; Clearfil SE Bond=10.39 +/- 7.56 vs 19.63 +/- 7.42; P=.001). Fractures were predominantly adhesive in control enamel and cohesive in hypomineralized enamel. Scotchbond etchant produced deep interprismatic and intercrystal porosity in control enamel and shallow etch patterns with minimal intercrystal porosity in hypomineralized enamel. Control enamel appeared almost unaffected by SE Primer; hypomineralized enamel showed shallow etching. The hypomineralized enamel-adhesive interface was porous with cracks in the enamel. The control enamel-adhesive interface displayed a hybrid layer of even thickness. CONCLUSIONS: The microshear bond strength of resin composite bonded to hypomineralized enamel was significantly lower than for control enamel. This was supported by differences seen in etch patterns and at the enamel-adhesive interface.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To evaluate the microtensile bond strength (microTBS) of three self-etching adhesive systems with different degrees of acidity (Clearfil SE Bond, One-Up Bond F, and Xeno III) to dentin prepared with three different methods. METHODS: Forty-five extracted human third molars were ground flat to expose occlusal dentin and polished with 600-grit abrasive paper. All teeth were randomly divided into three groups according to the preparation method: baseline surface (AP#600), steel fissure bur (SB) and regular grit diamond bur (DB). Dentin surfaces were bonded with one of the three adhesive systems; then resin composite was incrementally built up. After storage in 37 degrees C water for 24 hours, specimens were cut and trimmed to create an hourglass shape with cross sectional area of approximate 1 mm2. All specimens were subjected to microtensile bond strength testing. The bond strength data were analyzed with one and two-way ANOVA and Dunnett Multiple comparisons test at P< 0.05. RESULTS: For Xeno III and One-Up Bond F, the microTBS to dentin prepared with the different methods were not significantly different. However, the microTBS of Clearfil SE Bond to dentin prepared with the diamond bur was significantly lower than the other preparation methods. Xeno III produced the lowest microTBS that were statistically different from the other adhesive systems when each preparation method was compared (P< 0.01). SEM observation of the prepared dentin surfaces showed that the diamond bur group produced a thicker smear layer that followed by steel bur and 600-grit paper. Therefore, the smear layer from diamond burs had a greater influence in decreasing microTBS of Clearfil SE Bond that has the weakest acidity self-etching adhesive systems evaluated.  相似文献

Casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) nanocomplexes have been shown to prevent demineralization and promote remineralization of enamel subsurface lesions in animal and in situ caries models. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of incorporating CPP-ACP into a self-cured glass-ionomer cement (GIC). Incorporation of 1.56% w/w CPP-ACP into the GIC significantly increased microtensile bond strength (33%) and compressive strength (23%) and significantly enhanced the release of calcium, phosphate, and fluoride ions at neutral and acidic pH. MALDI mass spectrometry also showed casein phosphopeptides from the CPP-ACP nanocomplexes to be released. The release of CPP-ACP and fluoride from the CPP-ACP-containing GIC was associated with enhanced protection of the adjacent dentin during acid challenge in vitro.  相似文献

Objectives

Means of objectively assessing white spot enamel lesions (WSEL) are critical for determining their potential activity and monitoring the success of preventive treatments. The aim of this study was to determine whether surface pH measurements of WSEL changed during a preventive course of care designed to remineralize the lesions.

Methods

Eight healthy subjects (1 male and 7 females) with at least one WSEL were recruited (19–64 years). Each subject was placed on a preventive treatment program including the daily application of a CPP-ACP paste (MI paste, GC Corp., Japan) with custom fitted trays for more than 6 months. The surface pH values of sound enamel and WSEL were monitored for up to 2 years using a micro-pH sensor. The visual appearance of the WSEL was monitored via digital photography, and images were analyzed qualitatively on a 5-point scale to assess the success of the remineralization preventive program. The relationship between the qualitative assessment of WSEL appearance and the WSEL pH was investigated using a Spearman's rho non-parametric correlation.

Results

The surface pH of the WSEL was different to that of the sound enamel surrounding it in all patients at all times. All lesions showed visual improvement as the treatment period progressed. The pH of the WSEL increased towards that of sound enamel over the course of treatment significantly correlating with the visual improvement of the lesion (rho = 0.63, p < 0.0001).

Conclusions

The clinical assessment of WSEL surface pH changes with time may have utility as an additional objective measure for the assessment of WSEL activity.  相似文献

This study determined the influence of dentine structure on the micro-tensile bond strengths between resin and dentine of two different dentine adhesive systems (Single Bond, 3M Dental Products, St Paul, MN; MF-102 (experimental self-etching primer), GC Corporation, Tokyo, Japan). The study was separated into two main parts: bond strength measurement and investigation of the bonding interface. Twenty-two human premolars were used for the bond strength measurement. Each tooth was cut vertically, separating the tooth into mesio-distal halves. One half of the tooth was used to bond to a surface perpendicular to the dentinal tubules and other half to bond to a surface parallel to the tubules. For each half, six locations of dentine were bonded. Each material was used in accordance to the manufacturer's directions. Cylindrical hourglass-shaped specimens of 1.2 mm diameter at the bonded interface were manufactured. The bonds were stressed in tension at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. Mean bond strengths were compared using LSD, one-way ANOVA, and Student's t-test. The fractured surfaces were examined under a scanning electron microscope, and the frequency of fracture modes was compared using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. For the investigation of the bonded interface, four teeth were prepared by the same procedure used for the bond test specimens. The bonded interfaces were observed after an acid-base treatment or fracturing across the bonded interface, prior to investigation with a field-emission scanning electron microscope. For Single Bond, the bond strengths for mid-root dentine were significantly lower than for other locations (p < 0.05). For MF-102, there was no significant difference for all locations (p > 0.05). MF-102 bonded well to all locations of dentine while Single Bond showed a porous zone at the base of the hybrid layer. The bonds were not influenced by tubule orientation. The results indicate that the bond for Single Bond may be affected by its ability to penetrate demineralised dentine in different locations of a tooth. The self-etching primer of MF-102 produces a good bond and is independent of the position on the tooth.  相似文献

Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling has been implicated in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis. Mice lacking FGF2 have increased mortality and impaired epithelial recovery after bleomycin exposure, supporting a protective or reparative function following lung injury. To determine whether FGF2 overexpression reduces bleomycin‐induced injury, we developed an inducible genetic system to express FGF2 in type II pneumocytes. Double‐transgenic (DTG) mice with doxycycline‐inducible overexpression of human FGF2 (SPC‐rtTA;TRE‐hFGF2) or single‐transgenic controls were administered intratracheal bleomycin and fed doxycycline chow, starting at either day 0 or day 7. In addition, wild‐type mice received intratracheal or intravenous recombinant FGF2, starting at the time of bleomycin treatment. Compared to controls, doxycycline‐induced DTG mice had decreased pulmonary fibrosis 21 days after bleomycin, as assessed by gene expression and histology. This beneficial effect was seen when FGF2 overexpression was induced at day 0 or day 7 after bleomycin. FGF2 overexpression did not alter epithelial gene expression, bronchoalveolar lavage cellularity or total protein. In vitro studies using primary mouse and human lung fibroblasts showed that FGF2 strongly inhibited baseline and TGFβ1‐induced expression of alpha smooth muscle actin (αSMA), collagen, and connective tissue growth factor. While FGF2 did not suppress phosphorylation of Smad2 or Smad‐dependent gene expression, FGF2 inhibited TGFβ1‐induced stress fiber formation and serum response factor‐dependent gene expression. FGF2 inhibition of stress fiber formation and αSMA requires FGF receptor 1 (FGFR1) and downstream MEK/ERK, but not AKT signaling. In summary, overexpression of FGF2 protects against bleomycin‐induced pulmonary fibrosis in vivo and reverses TGFβ1‐induced collagen and αSMA expression and stress fiber formation in lung fibroblasts in vitro, without affecting either inflammation or epithelial gene expression. Our results suggest that in the lung, FGF2 is antifibrotic in part through decreased collagen expression and fibroblast to myofibroblast differentiation.
