Pityrosporum orbiculare in acneiform eruptions]

Six patients with acneiform eruptions in the predilection sites of pityriasis versicolor are briefly described. Histologically there were abscesses below the acroinfundibulum wherein yeasts could be found with the characteristics of pityrosporum orbiculare. The possible pathogenity of these fungi is discussed.     

Wachstumsabhängigkeit der Sproßpilze im Sputum von der Peroxidase-Aktivität in den Mundhöhle-Zellen

Mundhöhle-Zellen aus Sputen von 175 lungenkranken Patienten und 50 gesunden Probanden wurden auf ihre Peroxidase-Aktivität untersucht. Die Befunde von gleichzeitig angesetzten Pilzkulturen aus diesen Sputen zeigten eine negative Korrelation zwischen der Peroxidase-Aktivität und dem Wachstum von Sproßpilzen. Die Ergebnisse stimmen mit den Angaben aus der Literatur über die antifungische Wirkung des Peroxidase-Systems überein.

Summary

Macrophages of the sputum of 175 patients with lung diseases and 50 healthy person were tested for peroxidase activity. The findings from fungus cultures grown at the same time showed a clear negative correlation between peroxidase activity and the growth rate of the fungus. The results correspond the previously published findings on antifungal activity of the peroxidase system.     

Kleinepidemie durch Microsporum canis Bodin in Mannheim

Eine 9 Personen umfassende Epidemie durch das Microsporum canis in Mannheim 1976 wird beschrieben. Auffallend sind die klinisch atypischen pityriasiformen Hautveränderungen. Als Infektionsquelle konnten Sandkästen des gemeinsarnen Kinderspielplatzes nachgewiesen werden.

Summary

An outbreak of Microsporum canis infection involving 9 persons in Mannheim in 1976 is described. Special interest is focused on the atypical pityriasiform character of the skin lesions. Microsporum canis was isolated from the sand of public playgrounds.     

Zelluläre Abwehrmechanismen bei Candidosen

In 70 patients with positive yeast cultures from sputum and stools the peroxidase activity was examined cytochemically in cells of the oral mucosa and the white blood cells. All patients lacked peroxidase activity in cells of the oral mucosa. In 30 patients with a cutanous candidosis peroxidase activity was neither present in the cells of the oral mucosa nor in the blood cells. The antimicrobial defense system in the mouth is discussed. The cellular composition of smears from pustules is briefly outlined.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 70 Patienten mit positivem kulturellen Befund von Sproßpilzen im Sputum und im Stuhl wurde die Peroxydase-Aktivität in Mundhöhlezellen sowie in Blutneutrophilen cytochemisch untersucht. Bei allen Patienten war keine Peroxydase-Aktivität in den Zellen der Mundhöhle festzustellen. 30 Kranke mit kutaner Candidose wiesen Peroxydase-Aktivität weder in den Mundhöhlezellen noch in den Blutzellen auf. Es wird das antimikrobielle System in der Mundhöhle diskutiert. Der zelluläre Aufbau der Pustelausstriche ist kurz erwähnt.
