Personality differences are important determinants of problematic online behaviors. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of loneliness, depression, and online gaming motives and moderating role of age on the relationship between trait emotional intelligence (EI) and Internet gaming disorder (IGD) via the construction of a multiple mediation model. A total of 478 online gamers completed a self-report online survey, including validated psychometric scales assessing the aforementioned constructs. Results indicated that trait EI was directly and indirectly associated with IGD and that the motive of escape was a partial mediator between trait EI and IGD among the total sample and adult gamers, but not among adolescents. Moreover, trait EI was associated with coping, skill development, fantasy, and recreation gaming motives only among total sample and adult gamers, and the escape motive was positively associated with IGD among total sample and adult gamers. However, among these relationships, only the association between trait EI and fantasy was significantly moderated by age group. Furthermore, the direct effect of trait EI was stronger among adolescent gamers when compared to adult gamers. Results showed that trait EI is inversely associated with IGD and affects gaming for different motives among adolescent and adult gamers.
We have delineated regions of interest at chromosome 2q21.2, 2q36.3, and 2q37.1 by deletion mapping of 114 urothelial cancers (UC). Altogether, 17%, 18%, and 63% of the G1, G2, and G3 tumors displayed loss of heterozygosity at chromosome 2q, respectively, The region at 2q21.2 was narrowed down to the LRP1B gene (NT_005129.6). Hemi- and homozygous deletion at the LRP1B gene region was seen in 31 of 114 UCs. Only 8% of the UCs with G1 and none with G2 tumors showed loss of heterozygosity at the LRP1B gene, whereas 49% of the G3 UCs had allelic loss at this region. RT-PCR analysis of the LRP1B gene showed the lack of expression of several exons in 2 of 9 cases analyzed. Our analysis suggests that the LRP1B gene is a candidate tumor suppressor gene in UCs. 相似文献
Yersinia pestis, the etiologic agent of plague is a highly invasive organism being able to invade non-phagocytic epithelial cells. Its plasminogen activator (Pla), encoded by the pPCP1 plasmid plays a pivotal role in internalisation of bacteria by HeLa cells. The aim of this study was to analyse the intracellular signalling processes and cytoskeletal rearrangement events associated with invasion. Wortmannin caused a 50% decrease of invasiveness at 50nM concentration pointing to the involvement of phosphatidyl-inosinol-4 kinase (PtINs4). Pre-treatment with staurosporin, a potent inhibitor of protein kinases (PKs) and with genistein, a specific tyrosine kinase inhibitor decreased the number of internalised bacteria about seven-fold and two-fold, respectively, indicating the involvement of PKs including tyrosine kinases in Pla-mediated internalisation. Cytochalasin D, an actin polymerisation inhibitor, C3 exoenzyme of Clostridium botulinum, a specific inhibitor of small GTPase Rho, and NDGA, a 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor also involved in Rho activation strongly reduced the number of internalised bacteria revealing the role of cytoskeletal events in the invasion process. All the tested inhibitors changed the invasion but not the adhesion pattern of the Pla producing recombinant strain. During diagnostic workflow when detecting sequence alterations, sometimes it is important to design an algorithm that includes screening and direct tests in combination. Normally the use of direct test, which is mainly sequencing, is limited. There is an increased need for effective screening tests, with “closed tube” during the whole process and therefore decreasing the risk of PCR product contamination. The aim of this study was to design such a closed tube, detection probe based screening assay to detect different kind of sequence alterations in the exon 11 of the human c-kit gene region. Inside this region there are variable possible deletions and single nucleotide changes. During assay setup, more probe chemistry formats were screened and tested. Background: Despite the increasing popularity of video game playing, little is known about the similarities and differences between online and offline video game players. Objectives: The aims of this study were (i) to test the applicability and the measurement invariance of the previously developed Problematic Online Gaming Questionnaire (POGQ) in both online and offline gamers and to (ii) examine the differences in these groups. Methods: Video game use habits and POGQ were assessed in a sample of 1,964 (71% male) adolescent videogame players. Those gamers who played at least sometimes in an online context were considered “online gamers,” while those who played videogames exclusively offline were considered “offline gamers.” Results: Confirmatory factor analysis supported the measurement invariance across online and offline videogame players. According to the multiple indicators multiple causes (MIMIC) model, online gamers were more likely to score higher on overuse, interpersonal conflict, and social isolation subscales of the POGQ. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest that online and offline gaming can be assessed using the same psychometric instrument. These findings open the possibility for future research studies concerning problematic video gaming to include participants who exclusively play online or offline games, or both. However, the study also identified important structural features about how online and offline gaming might contribute differently to problematic use. These results provide important information that could be utilized in parental education and the prevention program about the possible detrimental consequences of online vs. offline video gaming. 相似文献
AIM: To present a case of acute mesenteric and portal vein thrombosis treated with thrombolytic therapy in a patient with ulcerative colitis in acute phase and to review the literature on thrombolytic therapy of mesenteric-portal system. Treatment of acute portal vein thrombosis has ranged from conservative treatment with thrombolysis and anticoagulation therapy to surgical treatment with thrombectomy and/or intestinal resection. METHODS: We treated our patient with intraportal infusion of plasminogen activator and then heparin through a percutaneous transhepatic catheter. RESULTS: Thrombus resolved despite premature interruption of the thrombolytic treatment for neurological complications, which subsequently resolved. CONCLUSION: Conservative management with plasminogen activator, could be considered as a good treatment for patients with acute porto-mesenteric thrombosis. 相似文献
Research conducted on Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) has grown considerably during the last decades. With the help of BCIs, users can (re)gain a wide range of functions. Our aim in this paper is to analyze the impact of BCIs on autonomy. To this end, we introduce three abilities that most accounts of autonomy take to be essential: (1) the ability to use information and knowledge to produce reasons; (2) the ability to ensure that intended actions are effectively realized (control); and (3) the ability to enact intentions within concrete relationships and contexts. We then consider the impact of BCI technology on each of these abilities. Although on first glance, BCIs solely enhance self-determination because they restore or improve abilities, we will show that there are other positive, but also negative impacts on user autonomy, which require further philosophical and ethical discussions.
A new laser speckle-contrast analysis (LASCA) technique based on multi-exposure imaging was employed to simultaneously study pial arteriolar responses with cerebrocortical perfusion changes to various vasodilator (5-10% CO(2) ventilation, bradykinin (1-10 μM), N-methyl-D-aspartate (100 μM)) vasoconstrictor (10-100 μM noradrenaline, 1M KCl), or neutral (2.1% H(2) ventilation) stimuli as well as to asphyxia in the newborn piglet. Anesthetized, ventilated animals (n=20) were fitted with closed cranial windows. Multiple exposure laser-speckle image series (1-100 ms) were obtained using a near infrared diode laser (λ=808 nm). The autocorrelation decay time (τ) of speckle fluctuations was determined over pial arterioles and parenchymal areas to express 1/τ being proportional to blood flow velocity by two different LASCA techniques: our novel multi-exposure or a single exposure (2 and 20 ms) approach. 1/τ values yielded by different LASCA techniques were not significantly different at most points. LASCA easily detected both increases and decreases in cortical blood flow (CoBF). Cortical 1/τ changes to hypercapnia closely matched quantitative CoBF data determined previously, and were also in accordance with increases of pial arteriolar blood flow, calculated from arteriolar flow velocity and cross sectional area changes. In summary, LASCA emerges as an appealing method to simultaneously study microvascular reactivity and cortical perfusion changes in the piglet. 相似文献
